Pregnant? Worried?
Finding out that you are or could be pregnant can sometimes come as a shock.
- You may feel confused or frightened.
- You may not know who you can talk to, or where to go for help.
- You may be faced with difficult choices that have no easy answers.
Don't panic. Don't be persuaded into sudden decisions.
At Jakin Pregnancy Care & Counselling you will find someone who has time to listen, someone who understands, someone who cares enough to help. |
Free pregnancy tests
To find out if you are really pregnant you can come to the centre for a pregnancy test. It only takes a few minutes. It's completely confidential. And it's free.
Friendly and caring support
One of our trained counsellors will be on hand to listen and offer support if you want someone to talk to confidentially. An unplanned pregnancy may not be your crisis - you may have other concerns which are making your pregnancy difficult. Whatever your situation, we will provide a calm and unpressurised environment for you to think through your next steps.
Free, confidential counselling
You may be faced with decisions that are not easy to make. We won't make a decision for you, but we can listen and help you to explore your options and find out all the information you need to know. You can arrange to see one of our team as often as you need, either on your own or with your partner if you'd prefer.
Practical help
Whatever your decision, we will continue to offer care and support as appropriate. This could include:
- Information on accomodation, or where to get baby equipment if you are on income support, etc.
- Information on adoption
- Free confidential counselling if considering abortion
- Free confidential counselling following abortion, miscarriage or stillbirth
- Information on other local and national helping agencies.
So don't panic. Talk it through...

(On a practical note: If you would like a pregnancy test, please bring (if possible) a sample of early morning urine. This will give a more accurate result, especially if your period is only a little overdue. If you can, it is best to wait at least a week after a missed period before coming for a test.)
If you cannot contact us, and you need a listening ear, phone our national "Careline" on 0800 028 2228 between 10am & 3pm Mon - Fri.
